Class Description -The first 16 weeks of a puppy’s life is crucial to their later development. Puppies that start classes during this period get a head start to becoming good canine companions. Socializing your puppy at an early age, teaching him how to learn and preventing problem behaviors are important in order for you to have a well-mannered dog. Puppy preschool class is a first step!

Puppy preschool class provides human and canine socialization opportunities in a safe environment. The class begins puppy’s learning by teaching her basic skills such as sit, down and come when called. The class will also address puppy problems such as chewing, house training and play biting.

Requirements - Puppies must be 8 – 12 weeks by the 2nd class; please note that this is the minimum and maximum age range. Puppies must also be in good health. Proof of puppy’s initial vaccination series is required at the first class. (DHPP is required.)

First class is a mandatory orientation for owners only, please leave your puppy at home.

Puppy Manners

Puppy Manners class

Class Description - Teach your puppy basic manners: sit, down, come and play nicely with others. Learn how to address adolescent doggy problems: jumping up, play biting, chewing, digging, house training and more. The class is designed to help you have a polite puppy and a better understanding of your canine companion.

First class is a mandatory orientation for owners only, please leave your dog at home. Puppy age requirement: 10-22 weeks by the 2nd class. Proof of puppy initial two vaccination series is required by the 2nd class. (Rabies & DHLPP are required. Bordetella is highly recommended.)

Basic Obedience

*Placerville classes start: Basic – 1/16/10 & 3/6
Trainer Ruth McDaniel, Basic Obedience class

Class Description - Train your pet to sit, down, stay, wait at the door, come and leave-it. Learn about techniques and tools that address common unwanted dog behaviors: jumping up, pulling on leash and more. The class is designed with positive reinforcement instruction and coaching based on reward training methods; no choke or pinch collars allowed. This is a class designed to help an owner better train and understand their canine companion(s).

First class is a mandatory orientation for owners only, please leave your dog at home. Requirements: Minimum age of six months. Proof of current vaccinations must be provided at the first class. (Rabies & DHLPP are required. Bordetella is highly recommended.)

Polite Pooch - Intermediate Level Dog Obedience

*Placerville class start: 3/6
Intermediate Obedience

Class Description - Want to continue to improve your dog's politeness? This intermediate level class will add and improve your dogs reliability of commands learned in basic training. You’ll learn how to polish your dogs stay, recall and heeling. Your dog will learn how to be well mannered even with distractions. Reward training methods will be used; no choke or pinch collars allowed. Class size is limited. First class is an orientation for owners only, please leave your dog at home.

Requirements: Proof of current vaccinations and completion of a basic obedience course must be provided at the first class. (Rabies & DHLPP are required. Bordetella is highly recommended.) The course is intended for well socialized canines who like people and other dogs.
